Archer’s observations from the OTA’s today

Todd Archer was out at the OTA’s today and he has some thoughts, read here.

** LB Sean Lee looked in midseason form by snuffing out a pass to the flat to FB Lawrence Vickers for what would have been no gain or a short pick up.

That’s the Cowboys defensive leader. The third year guy is the defensive leader over vets like Spears, Ware and Ratliff. Weird.

** WR Raymond Radway, who missed his rookie year with a broken ankle, was knocked out of practice briefly after getting poked in the eye.

** WR Andre Holmes made a nice grab on a Kyle Orton throw in seven-on-seven drills while crossing the middle. Earlier Holmes snared a Romo pass that was a little ahead of him.

** Rookie Saalim Hakin struggled in the rookie mini-camp with drops and he struggled Wednesday. Unofficially he had three and the last brought receivers coach Jimmy Robinson over with some encouragement.

So Holmes is leading the race for the job of trying to take time away from Kevin Ogletree as the #3 WR. Hakim. The dudes M.O. and reason he was not drafted is because he can’t catch. You can’t teach hands.

** RB Phillip Tanner did not look any different after being put on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He was quick and decisive with his cuts.

If we see Phillip Tanner overtaking Felix ‘I am broke again coach’ Jones this season on the depth chart I will not be surprised whatsoever.
