Bernadeau, more like burn a don’t

Looks like new Cowboy offensive lineman Mackenzy Bernadeau is down, read here.

Mackenzy Bernadeau underwent hip surgery over the weekend and will be out for as long as 12 weeks. He will most likely miss the entire offseason work at Valley Ranch including the veteran minicamp in June.

He could even miss the first week of training camp and return in August.

You can take this as a major blow to a team that just signed Bernadeau to a four-year $11 million deal in free agency or one where it gives other players a chance to get some reps with the first-team offense.

I was never under the impression that this guy was going to be handed the starting job at Right Guard and now he will really need to be head ans shoulders ahead of the kids if he’s going to miss all this time.

All the more chance for your man Leary to step up and seize that job!

I know I’m in the minority but I’m rooting for Nagy to win the job and hopefully Bernadeau can come back in time to be the starting center.

I really liked the mobility last year in the preseason of Nagy & Arkin. They showed an ability to get outside, something missing for a few years. Stretch the defense to cover more ground instead of always packing it inside. Naturally, they didn’t have NFL experience or strength but there might be something there. Leary has possibilities too and I’m all for the young guys stepping up and stepping in when it come to the O line. Let the best man win a job at guard & center!
