Houck: Tyron Smith will be one of best to ever play

Here’s former Cowboys Offensive Line coach talking with Norm Hitzges from The Ticket…

Houck talks Cowboys offensive line – Jan 18th

Saying Smith will be one of the best to ever play the game tells you that he’s definitely going to Left Tackle. If he’s that good you put him at the premiere position for offensive linemen. And yeah that was a little weird he called him Tyrone Smith, lol.

I remember talking with Bryan Broaddus about how David Arkin looked during training camp last summer and we always came back to him desperately needing a year with the Cowboys strength coaches before you would really know how good he was going to be as a professional.

Emmitt Smith was not as physically talented as guys like Dickerson, Jim Brown, OJ Simpson and Barry Sanders. But he was a guy with the heart of a lion and the discipline to keep his body in great shape which allowed him to be the most consistent RB in NFL history. Emmitt was just like the #2 All Time leader Walter Payton as far as heart goes and it probably says a lot that they are at the top of the list.

Houck better be right about Garrett learning from his mistakes.

  1. I know he (Houck) wasn’t going to speak on the defenses behalf when talking about the upward trend he believes the Cowboys to be heading, but, I thought that it was funny that he didn’t even seem to volunteer that there was promise on that side of the ball.

I think all that this team needs is a play maker on all 3 levels of the defense and I believe we have 2 of those covered with D-Ware and Shawn Lee. We need a ball hawk at safety…
