Recently Bill Jones of CBS 11 in Dallas had a very interesting mock draft for Cowboys, read here.
With the 14th pick of the 2012 National Football League Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:
Dont’a Hightower – LB – Alabama

Hightower played inside linebacker in Nick Saban’s 3-4 defense at Alabama. He was the unquestioned leader of the defense, calling all the plays, and playing some as a rush defensive end in passing situations. It’s that latter role that I project Hightower, at 6-4 and 260 pounds, playing with the Cowboys – a hybrid OLB/DE/ILB who can be used wherever Rob Ryan wants to in his front seven.
Interesting. Hightower is a hell of a player and he does have a burst when blitzing the QB…
He’s a beast for sure wherever he is on the field. But the Cowboys seem to have their future Inside Linebackers already on the team in Sean Lee and Bruce Carter.
And remember. Jason Garrett was the QB coach in Miami for two seasons under Nick Saban so I am sure he will get all the info he needs on Hightower.
I wonder if the Cowboys met with Hightower at the NFL Combine?
Now I am even more interested in this scenario introduced by Bill Jones.
Things like this are why this time of the year are so exciting for diehard fans.
